Summers are warm and winters are cold due to the tilt of the Earth's axis and its orbit around the sun. During the summer, the hemisphere is tilted towards the sun, allowing for more direct sunlight and longer days, resulting in warmer temperatures. In the winter, the hemisphere is tilted away from the sun, leading to less direct sunlight and shorter days, causing temperatures to drop. This seasonal variation in sunlight and daylight hours is the primary reason for the difference in temperature between summer and winter. **

Winters are milder in the Southern Hemisphere compared to the Northern Hemisphere because the Southern Hemisphere has more water and less landmass. Water has a higher heat capacity than land, which means it can absorb and release heat more slowly, moderating temperatures. Additionally, the Southern Hemisphere has more oceanic currents that help distribute heat more evenly, resulting in less extreme temperature variations during winter. **
